Chapter & Clause privacy policy

Chapter & Clause is a business name of Anona Group Pty Ltd (ABN 35 696 919 187). This policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit chapterandclause.com.au, buy from us, hold a membership or contact us, how we use it, who we share it with, and how you can access or correct it. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.

What we collect

Contact details: your name, email address and, if you give it, your phone number.
Business details you give us for invoices, such as your business name and ABN.
Order and account details: what you bought, when, your membership status, the documents you are entitled to and when you downloaded them.
Technical details when you use the site or download a document, such as your browser and device type, and your IP address (our download records keep only a scrambled form of it).
What you tell us when you contact us.
Your marketing preference, if you sign up for updates.

Card payments are processed by Shopify Payments. We do not see or store your full card number.

We sell document templates. We do not need, and ask you not to send us, personal information about the people your service supports.

How we use it

To process your order and give you access to your documents through your account.
To issue invoices and keep the business records the law requires.
To run your membership, including the emails that tell you a document has changed and, on the monthly plan, the reminder before your first payment.
To answer your questions and give you support.
To keep the site and our delivery service secure and working, and to improve them.
To send you news and offers, only if you have agreed. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link.

Who we share it with

We share personal information with the service providers and advisers listed below, and only as far as they need it:

Shopify, which hosts our store, checkout and customer accounts and processes payments;
Cloudflare, which hosts the service that delivers your documents and keeps your order and download records;
our email providers, which send order, membership and update emails and handle our support inbox;
our professional advisers, such as our accountant, where they need it to advise us.

We may also disclose personal information where the law requires or authorises it. We do not sell personal information.

Some of these providers store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States and other countries where they operate.

Membership codes

If you redeem a membership code with us, we hold the code, your name, your email address and the documents it covers, so we can give you access to them.

How we protect it and how long we keep it

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access. Access is limited to the people who need it, and download links are signed and logged. We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes above or the law requires (for example, tax records), and then delete or de-identify it.

Access, correction and questions

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by emailing support@chapterandclause.com.au. You can update your own contact details in your account at any time.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal information, email us at support@chapterandclause.com.au and we will look into it and reply in writing. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may be able to complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
